Updates from March
We have finally had a month of no missed meetings due to snow!!! The girls are trudging right along in their activities. The Daisy's are very close to finishing their journal books. At the last meeting, we decided on our clover project. They are going to be making posters that shows how we can use our resources wisely and also they will be planting sunflowers in order to help keep our soil clean (we hope to be able to do this at the lake). They are also working on getting a garden fun patch.
The Brownies have also been plenty busy. They have progressed in their journal book. At the last meeting, they worked on several activities to complete the requirements for 2 Try-Its: Girl Scout Ways and Girl Sports. Over the next few sessions, we will be finishing our journals, the last activity for the above Try-Its and starting on 2 more Try-Its: Colors and Shapes and Hobbys.
Exciting times!! So don't miss out! If your daughter has or has to miss one of the meetings, let me know and I will make sure they get the opportunity to complete the activities in order to earn the Try-Its.
Cookie stuff is about over with!!! Yeah!! I have counted out the cookie $ and sent out individual emails to all of you telling what was sold, how much was given and how much was needed. When all the $ is in and the last few extra boxes are sold (the ones left over from the booth sales) the troops will have earned a profit of between $500-$600 each. (I don't want to post the exact amount, ask me if you want to know). GOOD JOB GIRLS!! Let me know what prizes they want by the 29th.

Here is some info and I hope it is not too confusing!
Today we are going to be sorting cookies and also going to do activities for the World Thinking Day and receive our Trefoil pins.
The cookie booth sales are scheduled for March 5th from 5-7 and March 6th from 4-6. I am going to have the Brownies and Daisy’s both coming on those days, this way it will give more chance for everyone to get their booth badge. I do have extra cookies on hand if someone asks you for extra boxes when you deliver cookies or you come across someone who didn’t get to order. Call me and I could very well have what they want.
If you are interested in a summer camp for your girl, let me know and we can possibly help with the cost of it. I am going to double check on the final day of payment for camp. If possible we could raise money for camp for those who want to go.
We will continue with girl scouts during the summer (what we have of it!) I will let you know of activities and meeting date and times in the future. This will also allow us to participate in the Memorial Day parade.
Continue to practice with your child on how to sell cookies at the booth. Remember: look cute, smile, be polite, use manners, don’t get upset when someone tells you no, review the price of each box (3.50) and the kinds of cookies available. Role play with them so they feel comfortable doing this. Also, the girls will need to wear their vests/sashes at the booth sales. If you are having problems with them, let me know and maybe I can help!
I really want the girls to attend an activity that is located in our county and our council is putting on for a council fundraiser. It is a spaghetti dinner and karoke night and will be held at Gregoryville Christian Church and will be on Friday, March 12th from 6:30-9:00. They will get a patch for this activity. I HAVE TO KNOW BY FEB. 24TH IF YOUR DAUGHTER IS ATTENDING. The cost is $10. If anyone needs help in paying that, don’t be afraid to tell me and we can help out. I also need some adult volunteers to be there to help out since I am helping out during the event. Tell me, call me or email me if your daughter is going (I can always get the $ from you at a later date)
MEETING DAYS (barring no snow)
Brownies: March 1st, 15th, 29th
Daisy’s: March 8th, 22nd.

Ok, the Saturday event is cancelled for tomorrow. Not many girls were able to make it and I want to do it when most of the girls can be there to get their Trefoil pins. I have decided to do it on one of our scheduled meeting dates and combine both troops for it. So, if we have school on Monday, I want both troops to meet after school. So the Brownies and Daisy's will be meeting Monday, Feb. 22nd if there is school. Reason #2 for doing this---I will be picking up the cookies Monday during the day. If there is school, I will be bringing the cookies to the school where we will all sort them and send them home with the girls as they leave the meeting. If for some reason your daughter cannot make the meeting, notify me so that we can make arrangements for me to get the cookies to you. I think this will be the easiest way to get the cookies to you is to give them out at the meeting. So, if any of you moms are able to come and help out at this meeting Monday, please come. I will definitely need as many hands as I can get! If, heaven forbid, we don't have school on Monday, I will make alternate plans and let you know what those are next week. I will have to see what the weather is going to do and then decide when and where we can meet to give you your cookies. Thanks!
I will let you know of the booth sales days and times on Monday.

it has been awhile...
I am not sure if anyone visits this site, but I am sorry to be so long in updating the page and sending out info. I sent this email out earlier today:
Since we are now having school on Feb. 15, (pending no snow on that date) we will be having a Brownie meeting on both Feb. 15 and also on Feb.22. The Feb. 15 meeting will make up for the one missed Feb.1 and the Feb. 22 meeting is our regulary scheduled meeting. The Daisy's meet this evening and then again on March 1st. I will be letting you know about booth sales as soon as I find out. Thanks for being patient and understanding during this time of bad weather we are having. I know it gets confusing, but I am just a call or email away.
I am still getting approval for a few places in town to sell cookies for the booth sale. Bear with me, you will know as soon as I know! I am also, waiting to hear back from the school to see if they will let me and both troops set up a table up in front of the school one Monday for the girls to sell cookies as parents come and pick up their kids. On that Monday, I will have a combined meeting with both troops. This way everyone gets the opportunity to earn a booth patch. I am hoping to also have two more places and times to sell the cookies. Over the next couple of meetings, I will be going over how to sell cookies with the girls, making signs and thank you cards to hand out to the cookie buyers. We will be role playing how to polietly yet effectively selling cookies. I encourage you to also practice with your girls on how to do this so they will become comfortable with approaching people while using their good manners. Thanks for all you do and for getting me your cookie orders! I know it was a bit crazy due to the snow and all! Thanks!

Repost from Feb. information
There are a few items of interest I wanted to make sure everyone knew about. First of all, I need the cookie orders in my hands on Jan. 30th. I will be at Dairy Queen in Grayson from 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM. If you are not able to bring the sales paper to me at this time, please contact me beforehand. Another option is to bring the order forms to school on the 29th and give it to the secretary and I will pick it up that afternoon after school. A third option is to bring it to my home at some point that weekend. I will leave it up to you which you choose, but please let me know if it is some other time than Saturday the 30th. I will be inputing these orders over a few days time and the cookies should be in towards the end of February. I will not be able to apply for a cookie booth sale site until after January 25th. I will let you know the information about that as soon as I find out.
There are other patches the girls can get for cookie sales (I just discovered): the booth sales patch, goal getter patch, smart cookies patch and the cookie share path. For the Goal Getter Patch, go to gskentucky.org and click on cookie info. Go to bottom of page and click on “catch goals” and fill out information. As the selling goal for our troop I put 1000 boxes. For the Booth sales patch, the child has to help in booth sales. For the Smart Cookies Patch, go to abcsmartcookie.com, click on volunteer tab, then click on girl age level (brownie or daisy) and complete 2 activities from the list. It says to print out the final sheet to show to me for proof—I will take the parent at their word, but please let me know when you turn in your order form if the girls met the requirements for the patch. For the cookie share patch, we aren’t doing anything formally, but I have been asking people if they want to buy extra boxes of cookies to donate to the Food Pantry in town. Then we are responsible to get those cookies to the food pantry when they come in. That is how to get that patch.
In February, the Girl Scouts celebrate “World Thinking Day”. This is an important day when girl scouts around the world celebrate other countries and the fact that there are girl scouts everywhere. I am going to have a special meeting for this day on Saturday, February 20th, from 12 PM till ??? at First Church of Christ in Grayson.
This activity is for both the Brownies and Daisy’s. We will be learning about a particular country and will have activities and snacks that celebrate that country. The girls will also be getting their Trefoil pins. I really would love for all the girls to attend this activity if possible. If any of them need a ride to or from the activity, let me know. Hopefully the cookies will be in by then and you all can pick them up—we will see with fingers crossed!
Thanks for all you do!
daisy's meet
The Daisy's met today. Thanks to Tammy for providing snack---the girls LOVED it!! Today we continued on our journey from our journal books. We followed the story of Lupie the Lupine flower and her friends as they traveled to Maine. They stopped at a beach that had sparkly stones instead of sand and saw many other Lupine flowers. We took our own journey looking for our favorite shapes around school. We also decorated and made origami butterflys. Fun was had by all and I can't wait until we find out where the journey takes us next!
